more than this
last night's church service was fun...since my cell members gave me a belated birthday surprise after the service.
... just too lovely...
anyways. during Pastor Kevin's sermon, i've learnt that i wasn't suppose to give my tithes in installments. so yea, i gave the whole amount last night for the first time ( which did require more faith than i thought)
Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
i shall test Him in this.
another verse that i seriously need to proclaim at the moment is (physically drained and spiritually very dry)
Psalms 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

i had a strangely satisfying breakfast alone in the Mamak today on a lovely saturday morning.(though i sound like i'm in love, i'm not. )
anyways... what i witnessed in the Mamak just made my day.
i saw a foreign kid cried for not getting what he wanted.
he took out a bottle of green tea from the refrigerator but was later put back in by his dad.
and yea (typical)... he started his crying and whining.
i take pleasure in this because its refreshing to actually see parents disciplining their kids like how they're supposed to.
don't see that often these days. so yah. cheers!
ow.. i bought a bottle of green tea myself for the sake of rubbing it in at the kid's face.
... the last part was a joke. i'm not THAT mean. muahaha!

a year older
technically, my birthday couldn't have started any worst.it was 11.58pm on the night of 19th and my brother told me that he must use the com.
so.. there goes all my msn birthday wishes.
but it started rather 'perfect' actually.
i met up with Kev for breakfast and had our usual chat on music, our christian walk, uni lives among others... SwEeeT~!
besides handing it my marketing assignment and sitting for my Macroeconomics test...
the whole day was pretty simple - just as i expected it to be.
what was not expected? my closest friends not wishing me even when i was busy taking phone calls to thank other people who wished me. so... yea. "bummer"... i thought to myself.
who knew there was a surprise behind it all ( what i hoped for lar- eventhough it didn't seem likely as it was getting late.
before the "surprise" , me and my coursemates had dinner at SS15
- a simple dinner enough to make me contented because of fellowhip i had with my friends during my big day.
the surprise... ( a lil' hard to describe as i was not involved in the planning process)...
but the best word to describe it -would be 'surprising'. haha.
it was surprising for many reasons.
all my friends had planned earlier to Not wish me the whole day.
only to have a simple dinner at night and Me- going to Swee Sin's house to discuss my homework. i definitely bought that idea, based on the fact that we often had dinner before hanging around at Swee Sin's place.
after dinner, i was taken to a pharmacy then to a bank by Chee Hau (for them to set up the surprise)...i think
then we reached Swee Sin's place with the idea of me going to group study with Guo Loon and Swee Sin only. apparently not.
as i enter Swee Sin's gate, the whole group of them then came out from behind of a car singing the birthday song with a caramel cheese cake coming towards me.
so yeah, that was fun and cruel of them. to make me feel disappointed for the first 20 hours of my birthday.
amazing!
these are the people worth mentioning ... that had planned all this just for me.
Swee Sin, Guo Loon, Ewe Kheong, Kheng Yin, E Fay, Rini, Sofian, Kit, Steven, Stephen, Chee Hau, Hendra and Sutra.
anyways, cake was just fine.

living in the moment...
these are the guys i met during my first year in university.
after this year, everyone will go their seperate ways. may it be transfering to a different university, furthering their studies in Australia or staying...
if there's a time to play hard, this year has to be IT. and i believe everyone knows it.
what seem to be 10 best buddies that went on a road trip...was actually not quite.
we are nothing close to being best friends...
we are 10 different individuals who cherish moments like these.
10 different individuals with very different backgrounds and beliefs.
eventhough we never had serious and sophisticated conversations ..ever,
i believe that there's a time when we should prioritize what matters the most
-at this moment of time- which is to spend time together and just have fun... while we still can.
can't spend your whole life having a certain level of depth and not relating to the 'not so' deep society.
there's a saying " He who laughs last thinks the slowest. "... so what? at least i'm still laughing.
being lazy and lame... for once?
"Hard work has a future payoff. Laziness pays off now"

Why do Suffering and Sin exist?more importantly, why does a suffering savior exist?
[in the words of John Piper]
"it was all for the display of the greatness of the glory of the grace of God"
"The death of Christ- in his supreme suffering- was the highest display of the greatness of the glory of the grace of God that is conceivable to us."

its true.i admit.
i get stumbled easily.
my faith got to be stronger than this!
Joshua 1 :6-7 & 9
6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go....9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
a perfect scipture when i needed it the most.
after 3 amazing night of EMERGE conference ....
an incident the day after... that alone was enough to pull me down.
a failed attempt to perform during my tutorial presentation...
i was scolded by lecturer. i was said to be unprepared, overconfident and had a poor knowledge on the subject matter.
painful truths that i haven't heard in a while.
but i know. this is a wake up call. for too long i've been in my comfort zone...
can't slack any longer...
my destiny can't wait for me no more.. time to put in the efforts and work my ass off for the results i can only imagine at the moment.

EMERGE
EMERGE KL 2006 was awesome !Rev Kong Hee was incredible... especially his ability to connect and influence the young people.
He's a great man of God having the vision of making an impact in our society to have a passion for the Lord, to be relevant in our society yet never compromising of our values.
all 3 nights was filled with God's holy presence, powerful messages and rejoicing worship.
